The Kobo Glo HD is a 2015 6-inch ebook-reading tablet that was pleased reviewers for its thin and lightweight design which enhances on portability, being able to fit easily in a jacket pocket. Customers were happy with the sharp 1,448-by-1,072-pixel resolution display and also praised the general performance of the device. Concerns were raised over the software, which offers relatively limited online book content compared to Amazon Kindles and Nook devices. Some users also complained of long boot-up times and the omission of a microSD card slot that is common with most of Kobo’s other readers. Nonetheless, the Kobo Glo HD is a bold e-reader that promises to satisfy the needs of users looking for an affordable alternative to Amazon’s Kindle Voyage.
Pros
- Thin and lightweight design
- Sharp display
- Decent performance
- Great battery life
Cons
- Relatively underpopulated bookstore
- Long wake-up time from sleep mode
- Non-expandable storage
Bottom Line
When you compare it to the Amazon Kindle Voyage, the Kobo Glo HD has the same ergonomics and the same high-resolution display. Amazon may have a better bookstore and the Voyage definitely looks better, but the Glo HD is significantly cheaper. This makes it a worthy alternative.

The Kobo Glo HD is all about value and a great reading experience. It's easily as good as any Kindle, and perhaps even better if you like to hold an ereader in one hand. As well as a slightly more practical though boring design, it's also much cheaper than the high-end Kindle Voyage.
