No, I didn’t make a mistake in the title of this article. But wait, isn’t the Surface Pro a tablet? That’s right it is. But I believe that the Surface Pro is the only laptop you need. What do I mean by that? I mean if you get a Surface Pro, you can get rid of your laptop and your tablet and just use this as your only device. Today we will look at five reasons why the Surface Pro is the only laptop, and only device you will need.

When This Won’t Work

While I do stand by what I said, there are a couple of scenarios when this won’t work for you. If you like to enjoy high end gaming, for example, you are going to need a device that is designed just for that. In this case, I recommend a high quality desktop. This will allow you to get the power you need for that high end gaming. OF course, if you are just a casual gamer, the right Surface Pro could work for you as well. Just don’t expect to run the latest high end PC games on the device.

Do you enjoy video editing? If so, then you may want to look at other options as well. While you can get away with doing it on your Surface Pro, you will have a much better experience on a high end laptop or desktop.

Reasons the Surface Pro Is the Only Laptop You Need

Now that we have gotten that out of the way, let’s take a look at five reasons why your Surface Pro can be the only device you will ever need again.

1. Full Version of Windows

Unlike the iPad or Android devices, the Surface Pro comes with a full version of Microsoft Windows 10. This means that you can run the Universal apps and full desktop apps side by side. Think about it, you will have a tablet that runs a full version of Windows, so you can run any app you won’t to run on your Surface Pro. You simply won’t have the need to keep a tablet with your mobile apps and a laptop with your desktop apps. You have one device that will do it all.

2. Monitor Support

While the display on a Surface Pro is truly remarkable to behold, sometimes you need just a little bit more real estate to work. The Surface Pro will allow you to connect an external monitor so you can run everything on this tablet in its full glory. Just consider what it will be like to use your Surface with a large HD, 27-inch monitor? Do you really need to keep a laptop or a desktop when you can do this? I think not.

3. Keyboard and Mouse Support

Now we already know that the touch screen on the Surface Pro is amazing, and the Surface Pen is top notch to really change how you work. However, if you are looking for a more traditional experience, then you may want to connect a mouse and keyboard. Try doing that on an iPad and you won’t have very much success. Sure there are some Bluetooth options that sort of work, but for a true desktop like experience, then the Surface Pro is the way to go. Because it runs Windows 10, almost any keyboard and mouse will work with relative ease to give you the power to work the way you want to do it.

4. Unifying Experience

Think about a life where you use one device for everything. You are plugged and working at your desk at work but then need to head to the airport for a trip. Instead of gathering up a ton of devices, you just unplug your Surface Pro and take it with you. This allows you to take your files and apps with you anywhere. Add to that the seamless integration of OneDrive or any other cloud storage options, and you will have everything you need no matter where you may go. It all just works. At the same time, you won’t have to worry about handicapped apps that you will find on the mobile app stores. You will have the full desktop versions right at your fingertips.

5. The Cool Factor

Everyone loves to talk about how cool Apple devices are, and I’m not saying they aren’t. In fact, they are way cool and fun to use. But that doesn’t mean something made by Microsoft isn’t. One look at the device and you will see that Microsoft spared no expense creating a beautiful tablet/laptop hybrid that looks great and feels cool when you use it. Add to that the nice keyboard and the pen and you have an advanced and modern device that anyone would be happy to use day in and day out. While it may be Microsoft, they aren’t the stuffy company they once were. They are the new cool so enjoy it while you use it.

A Word on Price

Many always talk about the higher price you pay for a Surface Pro. There is no doubt that they are on the pricey side. But think about this. If you buy a laptop and then a tablet to use separately, you are already having to pay for multiple devices. At the same time, the more power you go with, the more you pay. The Surface Pro 4 is a powerful computing device right out of the box. Once you factor in the ability to eliminate two devices for just one, you really end up saving money in the end. Especially when you consider the price of apps that often have to be bought for multiple platforms.

The Surface Pro is one of the most advanced tablet/laptop hybrids currently available on the market. If you are looking to reduce the number of your devices and you want something that looks great, features a high quality build and gives you the ability to run everything in one place, you really can’t go wrong with the Surface Pro.
